Japanese Isshu Gin Pendant Circa 1846-1867

This Japanese rectangular isshu gin silver coin was minted under Emperor Komei sometime between 1846 and 1867. Each rectangular coin can be identified to the reign of a specific ruler, although the date in most instances can only be determined by the period of the Emperor’s rule. These are among some of the only rectangular coins minted in history and is hand framed in argentium silver.
